New over-60s gym Elossa on the agenda for ‘fitness quarter’ in northern suburbs

Railway St in Corrimal is taking another step to becoming the area’s fitness capital with a new proposal for an over-60s gym on exhibition for public comment.

The gym would be called “Elossa”, a new company owned by a Thirroul couple which specialising in seniors and carries a tagline that shows a focus on “functional fitness”.

The applicant says the development would not make any nuisance for neighbours as the classes would not be loud and parking is available behind the building.

“The proposed development will not cause excessive acoustic privacy noise to the adjoining properties that would be considered a nuisance, the use-operation of the gym is internal and all traffic movement would be of similar movements that have occurred over the life time of the property as carparking is existing and business type operations have been operating over the past period of the existing complex that used the carparking area,” the application states.

Railway St in Corrimal is already the site of three gym within 50m.

The proposal is on exhibition via Wollongong City Council until August 4.
